Terms of use

Last updated 20 September 2026

Who runs LevelJar

LevelJar is run by the operator named in the legal notice, who is also the contact for anything in this document. These terms govern your use of leveljar.com and of the app at leveljar.com/app. By using either, you agree to them.

What LevelJar is

LevelJar is a free platform for learning Python. There is no fee, no subscription, no advertising and nothing to buy. The Python you write runs in your own browser.

It is offered as it is, for as long as it is offered. There is no promise that the site stays available, that lessons stay unchanged, or that your work can always be reached. The operator may change parts of it, add or remove lessons, or discontinue the whole thing. If it is discontinued, reasonable notice will be given where that is possible, so that you can take a copy of your work.

Accounts

Using it fairly

Please do not:

Learning from the material, taking notes, keeping your own solutions and sharing what you have learned are all fine and are the point of the site. An account used for any of the things listed above may be suspended or deleted.

The code you write

Whatever you write in a lesson stays yours. The operator claims no ownership of it and does not use it for anything except running the service.

When you are signed in, your code and your progress are stored on the server so that they follow you between devices, which means the operator can see them. What is stored, for how long, and how to have it deleted is set out in the privacy policy.

The lessons themselves

The lessons, exercises, checks and the text around them belong to the operator and are protected by copyright. You may use them to learn, including at work or in study, and you may keep copies for yourself. You may not republish them, sell them, or pass them off as part of another course or product without written permission.

Liability

LevelJar is provided free of charge and without warranty of any kind. In particular there is no warranty that it is free of errors, that lessons are free of mistakes, or that it is fit for any particular purpose. Use it accordingly, and keep your own copies of anything you would mind losing.

The operator is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence. For slight negligence the operator is liable only where an obligation is breached whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of this agreement possible in the first place and on whose fulfilment you may regularly rely, and then only for damage that is foreseeable and typical for this kind of agreement.

Liability for injury to life, body or health, liability under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz), and liability arising from a guarantee given by the operator are not affected by any of the above and remain in full.

Ending it

You can stop using LevelJar at any time, and you can delete your account yourself in the app: open the account menu and choose Delete account. Your account, your progress and your code are removed from the server straight away, and this cannot be undone.

The operator may close an account that breaks these terms. Where the circumstances allow it, you will be told why, and for anything short of serious misuse you will be given a chance to put it right first.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change, for instance if the service changes. The date at the top always shows when they were last updated. If a change materially affects your rights or duties, you will be told about it, by email to the address on your account or by a notice in the app, before it takes effect. Continuing to use LevelJar after that counts as accepting the new version.

Law and disputes

German law applies. If you are a consumer with your habitual residence in another country, you keep the protection of any mandatory provisions of the law of that country; nothing here takes those away.

The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. The operator is neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (Verbraucherschlichtungsstelle).

If any part of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest stays in force.
